Northern Rescue Helicopter Ltd provides a dedicated emergency rescue helicopter and air ambulance service for the Northern region of Aotearoa/New Zealand, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. By joining us you're making a big difference for the people we help.

We are seeking an experienced AW169 qualified emergency service captain in a VFR/IFR and NVIS operation.

Minimum qualifications:

  • CAA NZ Air Transport Pilots License (Helicopter)

  • Instrument Rating (min 3 renewals)

  • 3000 hrs Rotary wing

  • 2000hrs PIC

  • 500hrs Multi Engine Turbine

  • 50 hrs NVIS

  • Unrestricted Night rating

  • 100 hours Instrument time

Desirable qualifications:

  • AW169 experience

  • BK117 experience

  • Winch experience

  • EMS experience

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • IT literate

  • Demonstrate experience of helicopter flight operations within the emergency services or relevant role

  • High level of knowledge of current aviation legislation

  • Experience of emergency service/relevant flight operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties as a HEMS pilot in accordance with CAA requirements and the NRHL exposition.

  • Remain aware of and advise where necessary on operational or legislative factors that affect HEMS operations.

  • Undertake aviation related duties on behalf of NRHL.

  • Regular liaison with colleagues, HEMS crew, engineering and appropriate third parties.

  • Assist with operational and training requirements.

  • Maintain and demonstrate an active interest in the overall activities of NRHL and reflect the organisations vision, mission and values in all communications with the public.

  • Be prepared to attend occasional promotional or fundraising events either as part of a team or as an individual to support and promote trust activities.
