NT Heli-Ops is a proudly Indigenous owned and operated helicopter services company based in Katherine in the Northern Territory. Established in 2014, we bring over 30 years of regional flying experience.
We specialise in a wide range of operations across private, corporate, and government sectors. Beyond our core airwork which includes aerial mustering, survey, animal control, external load work, and firefighting support, we also operate a significant tourism division. Our services include spectacular scenic flights and bespoke tourism experiences, requiring our team to maintain high standards across both commercial airwork and charter requirements. Safety is at the heart of everything we do, with rigorous training and robust procedures ensuring high-quality service on every flight.
About the Role
We are seeking a Chief Pilot to lead our Katherine-based team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the control of all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the safety of our flying operations. You will ensure every flight meets the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities:
A comprehensive understanding of CASR 1998 Part 119, 133 and Part 138 with a strong track record of operating compliantly and leading a workforce in that environment.
Support the Safety Manager with technical analysis of safety reports and investigations.
Support the Operations Manager in crew rostering, operational planning, and day‑to‑day service delivery.
Excellent computer and technological literacy.
Review and develop SOP’s and Operations Manual suite of documents.
Participate and close out internal and external audits.
Manage all flight crew training and operational matters as per the Company Operations Manual.
Oversee team training, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture aligned with company values.
About You
Hold a current CPL-H with Low Level Rating and a minimum of 1000 hours
Class 1 Aviation Medical
Proven background as a Senior or Chief Pilot with a deep understanding of CASA regulations.
Competent in search and rescue (SAR) procedures and proficient in using company operational software.
Ability to collaborate with operations departments to streamline processes and implement new systems.
Exceptional ability to liaise with stakeholders, CASA, and the internal team under pressure.
