About the Role


As a Flight Examiner, you will play a critical role in maintaining and advancing the safety, capability and professionalism of LifeFlight’s flight operations. Working in accordance with CASA CASR Parts 61, 119, 133, 138 and supporting Part 142 training delivery, you will conduct pilot checking, flight testing and training across both aircraft and simulator environments.


This role combines instructional excellence with operational credibility. You will deliver high-quality training and assessment, support EMS line flying, and ensure pilots meet all regulatory, operational and organisational standards. Based primarily at our Training Academy in Brisbane, with travel to LifeFlight bases as required, you’ll work closely with pilots, trainers and operational leaders to strengthen capability, consistency and safety outcomes across the organisation.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Conducting flight tests, proficiency checks and flight reviews in line with CASA requirements and company standards

  • Delivering simulator-based and in-aircraft training and checking to approved training systems

  • Undertaking EMS line flying to support operational readiness and maintain operational proficiency

  • Mentoring and coaching pilots through constructive feedback and performance development

  • Contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of training systems, procedures and materials


This is a full-time role, operating on an equal time roster reconciled monthly, with a company vehicle provided to support travel.


About You


You are an accomplished aviation professional with a strong instructional and examining background, exceptional judgement, and a passion for developing others in high-risk operational environments. You bring credibility, calm decision-making and a collaborative approach, and you actively contribute to a strong safety culture.


You will bring:


  • ATPL (H)

  • Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) with NVIS and Instrument Rating training endorsements

  • Flight Examiner Rating (FER) with NVIS and Instrument Rating examiner endorsements

  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate

  • Extensive EMS, SAR or multi-engine operational experience

  • Demonstrated experience delivering flight training, checking and assessment in accordance with CASA regulations

  • High levels of situational awareness, decision-making and professional judgement

  • Current ASIC


 Desirable:

 

  • Additional examiner approvals, including multiple aircraft type examiner ratings including multi-crew cooperation instructor experience and qualifications

  • Experience supporting simulator fidelity evaluation or training device improvement initiatives
