ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Flying Operations for the Aerotech Helicopters AOC combines unique operational opportunities with management responsibility. Whilst there is flexibility for days and hours worked this role is permanent full time and must be based in Adelaide. For the right applicant relocation assistance and/or support to transition to civilian qualifications will be provided if required.
Shaping the strategic direction and operational performance of Aerotech Helicopters this position works closely with our established Helicopter leadership team including our Head of Training and Checking, Operations Manager and Safety Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
A comprehensive understanding of CASR 1998 Part 119, 133 and Part 138 with a strong track record of operating compliantly and leading a workforce in that environment.
Support the Safety Manager with technical analysis of safety reports and investigations.
Support the Operations Manager in crew rostering, operational planning, and day‑to‑day service delivery, ensuring aircraft, crews, and resources are fully prepared and aligned with booking and contract requirements.
Strong people, culture, and performance management experience to ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational performance.
Excellent computer literacy (such as Word, Excel, AirMaestro, Web Manuals).
Review and develop SOP’s and Operations Manual suite of documents.
Ensure contractual obligations are met in regards to aviation standards which may differ and exceed regulatory requirements (including but not limited to IOGP 590).
Carry out the responsibilities shown in the other Aerotech Helicopters Operations Manual suite documents (e.g. NVIS Manual, SEMS Manual, FRMS Manual).
Recruitment, training and development of personnel to meet current and anticipated business needs, ensuring the Aerotech Helicopters business upholds the organisational culture and values of the Aerotech Group.
Liaise and forward plan with all relevant Aerotech business units and key position holders to ensure client needs are met and regulatory compliance upheld.
Participate and close out internal/external (third party) audits.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
Low Level Rating
Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating
Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating
Minimum 2500 hours total time
Minimum 1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter
Minimum 500 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter
Minimum 50 hours NVIS
SEH, SK70 and EC135 Type Rating
Class 1 Aviation Medical
Hold or be eligible for a passport to enable international travel if required
Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
Tertiary qualifications in aviation, business, or project management (desirable)
