The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Head of Training & Checking (HOTC) of our Rotary Wing operations to join our team on a full-time basis.

The HOTC is responsible to the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) for the delivery of the training and checking requirements covered by LifeFlight Australia’s CAR 217 Certificate and the Operations Manual. The role is located in Brisbane at our Training Academy, with travel to our operational bases throughout Queensland required at times.

About You

In support of our strong safety culture, minimum qualifications and experience limitations apply. To be eligible you must have the following:

Minimum requirements:

Qualifications

  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Licence

  • Command Endorsed on at least one Company aircraft

  • Hold a Command Multi-engine Instrument Rating

  • Previously held Head of Training and Checking approval issued by CASA or the ability to obtain such qualification

  • Cert IV – Training and Assessment and/or Documented evidence of Flight Training development and management

Experience

  • Held a similar role for a minimum of 3 years or demonstrated experience and qualification to succeed in the role.

  • TR AW139 or TR B412

  • CIR ME with minimum 5 renewals (IPCs)

  • 5000 hours PIC

  • 1000 hours PIC ME H

  • 500 hours PIC Night

  • 200 hours PIC Night Unaided

  • 200 hours IF

  • NVIS G1

  • FIR H – G1, IR H, LL H (RW & SO), NVFR H, TR AW139, TR B412

  • FER H – IR H, TR AW139, TR B412

(note: appointee should either hold the above qualifications and experience, or demonstrate the ability to do so)

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Air Maestro suite

  • Sound knowledge of current aviation legislation

  • Project management

  • Leadership and team management with an understanding of adult learning principles

Personal attributes

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • A willingness to accept constructive feedback and develop solutions in response to organisational challenges

  • Positive disposition with initiative, and a willingness to participate as a member of the aviation leadership team

  • A good work ethic with a flexible approach in support of the goals of the organisation.
