National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) manages more than 870 national parks and reserves, covering over 7 million hectares or 9% of the landmass of NSW. We conserve and celebrate our biodiversity and cultural heritage and provide wonderful natural visitor experiences for the whole community to enjoy. We carry out plant and animal conservation, sustainable tourism and visitation, research, education, volunteering programs, and fire and asset management. We work together with Aboriginal communities to manage and protect our parks on behalf of the people of NSW. About You

You will be a proven leader who has exceptional people management, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will have previous senior management experience where you have led a multidisciplinary team consisting of a flight unit of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing assets. You will have in-depth experience with ensuring compliance to the Civil Aviation Act plus all relevant regulation and legislative requirements. You will be a hands-on rotary-wing pilot with operational aviation knowledge and experience with critical incidence and rapid response in remote environments. Primary purpose of the role:

The Director Flight Operations (Chief Pilot) exercises the regulatory responsibilities of the AOC Head of Flying Operations and Chief Pilot pursuant to the Civil Aviation Act and subordinate legislation. The role also leads and directs the Flight Unit (ParkAir) including the management and maintenance of aviation assets and personnel, delivering safe aviation services, supporting state wide land management programs and incident management on behalf of the AOC Accountable Manager.

The Director Flight Operations (Chief Pilot) is responsible to Chief Executive Officer of the Air Operators Certificate (Accountable Manager) for the control of all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the safe flying operations, and the duties of the Chief Pilot pursuant to aviation legislative requirements.
