Deputy Chief Pilot (DCP)
The Aviator Group is seeking an experienced manager and suitably qualified aviation professional to join our flight operations management team in the role of Deputy Chief Pilot (DCP) in our Brisbane office.
ABOUT AVIATOR GROUP
The Aviator Group has established itself as an industry leader in the provision of specialist Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services in Australia. Aviator Group operates a modern fleet of Airbus H135, Leonardo A109, and BH429 aircraft in the provision of services to the maritime industry. Aviator Group also undertake Search and Rescue (SAR), executive helicopter charter and utility services to a diverse customer base. Aviator operates from multiple bases at Gladstone, Hay Point, Mackay, and Port Hedland. Planned growth includes additional bases, scope of operations, and aircraft including the H145.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The DCP will work collaboratively as understudy to the Chief Pilot (CP) and must be capable of assuming the full duties of the CP when so required. The DCP will assist the CP in ensuring the safe, professional, and efficient operations of the fleet of H135, A109, BH429 and AS350 aircraft. This will include ensuring the company suite of manuals amended to align with regulatory compliance and procedural changes made by CASA and other governing bodies.
The DCP will be expected to maintain flying skills by day, night, VFR and IFR, and be capable of instructing and examining these skills across the company pilot group. This will include participation in the company recurrent training program.
The position of DCP will be required to support the Head of Operations/Head of Training and Checking in the maintenance of company flight standards, and development and maintenance of company Part 141 and CAR 217 training systems.
The DCP is an integral and valued member of the management team and will be required to participate in company lead initiatives. Effective people management and leadership skills are essential for this role. The DCP will actively promote the company corporate values and objectives within the Aircrew group.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE PRE-REQUISITES
To be considered for this key management role, a successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience.
Flight operations management experience commensurate with the role.
Air Transport Pilot Licence Helicopter (ATPL-H).
Multi-Engine Command experience and hold an IR on a MEH.
Current Australian Class 1 Aviation Medical.
Ability to obtain and maintain CASA approval as Chief Pilot.
Australian resident, and able to hold and maintain an ASIC and MSIC.
Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis.
Strong communication skills; written and verbal.
Superior knowledge of aviation rules and procedures.
Hold or can hold relevant CASA Flight Instructor and Flight Examiner qualifications with IR endorsement for both ratings.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE ATTRIBUTES
Tertiary and/or relevant aviation management qualifications.
EC135, BH429 or A109 experience.
Marine Pilot Transfer (MPT) experience.
EFB management experience.
