The Aviator Group is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified aviation professional to join our flight operations management team in the role of Deputy Chief Pilot (DCP) in Brisbane.
ABOUT AVIATOR GROUP
The Aviator Group has established itself as a leading provider of specialist Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services in Australia. We also undertake Search and Rescue (SAR), executive charter and utility services to a diverse customer base. Aviator Group operates from bases at Gladstone, Hay Point, Mackay, Avalon and Port Hedland, with additional bases planned soon.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The DCP will provide professional support and understudy to the Chief Pilot (CP) and must be capable of assuming the full duties of the Chief Pilot (CP) when necessitated. The DCP will assist the CP in ensuring the safe, professional and efficient operations of the fleet of EC135, A109, BK117 and AS350 aircraft. This will include amendment of the company manual suite to enable effective alignment of procedures to ensure regulatory compliance with CASA and other governing bodies.
The DCP will be expected to maintain the flying skills as demanded by the HMPT role by day, night, VFR and IFR, and be capable of instructing and examining these skills of company staff. This will include participation within the company’s recurrent training program.
The position of DCP will also be required to support the Head of Operations (HOO/Head of Training and Checking (HOTC) in the maintenance of company flight standards, development and maintenance of company CASR Part 141 and CAR 217 training systems.
The DCP will be an integral part of the management team and will be required to participate in company lead initiatives. Effective people management skills are essential for this role. The DCP will actively promote the company corporate values and objectives within the Aircrew group, and work with the Aircrew Group to maintain of a well-briefed and highly motivated workforce.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE PRE-REQUISITES
To be considered for this key flight operations management role, applicants will need to possess the following qualifications and experience.
Flight operations management experience commensurate to the role
ME Command experience and hold an IR on a MEH
Australian Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence (CPL-H)
Current Australian Class 1 Aviation Medical
Ability to obtain and maintain CASA approval as Chief Pilot
Australian resident and able to hold and maintain an ASIC and MSIC
Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Superior knowledge of aviation rules and procedures
Hold, or have the ability to hold relevant CASA Flight Instructor (FIR) and Flight Examiner (FER) qualifications with IR endorsement to both ratings.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE ATTRIBUTES
Tertiary and/or relevant aviation management qualifications
EC135 and or A109 experience
Marine Pilot Transfer (MPT) experience
EFB management experience
