Babcock Mission Critical Services Australasia is a growing business that provides helicopter Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Air Ambulance, Marine Pilot Transfer, Surveillance and Defence Support operations across Australia.

An opportunity exists for a qualified pilot to work in a Flying Operations Management role based in Essendon, working Monday to Friday. This position will require the successful applicant to spend one working week per month at our Regional Support Centre located in the Adelaide CBD, and will also require occasional travel both within Australia and internationally to fulfil operational and training duties. This is a non-EBA position and will report to the Head of Flying Operations / Chief Pilot.

Salary will be based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and demonstrated subject matter expert experience. The position requires flexible rostering to include occasional weekend and public holiday shifts in order to meet operational requirements. The hours of work will average 38 hours per week with additional hours as reasonably necessary to complete functional duties and responsibilities.

Duties are to provide advice and assistance to the Head of Flying Operations/Chief Pilot, Head of Training and provision of advice and interpretation to Heads of Departments. The successful applicant may be required to participate in CASA industry Technical Working Groups and contribute to projects on behalf of flight operations. The successful applicant will be required to maintain currency and competence on B412/AW139 contracts.

Essential Requirements:

  • ATPL-H with IR MEH and NVIS

  • Bell 412 and/or AW139 type rating and prepared to be dual qualified

  • Low level rating with winch endorsement

  • PIC and Experience for approval to any onshore contract

  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal

  • Superior knowledge of aviation rules and procedures

  • Hold or have the ability to hold relevant CASA Flight Instructor and Flight Examiner qualifications

  • Previous helicopter pilot training experience

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience

  • Expertise in various elements of office technology: Smart-sheet, Microsoft Office, Database Management, Air Maestro.
