QGAir currently have one vacancy for a Training and Checking Rotary Wing Pilot. QGAir are interested in receiving applications from applicants based in Cairns and Townsville. Your opportunity:

Your part in the ongoing success of our business, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including:

• Administer and conduct training and checking programs at the QGAir Helicopter Rescue air base as per the QGAir Helicopter Rescue Operations Manual.

• Fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), multi-engine AW139 helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.

• Coordinate and conduct project and training development as directed by the Chief Pilot / Head of Training & Checking.

• Liaise closely with the Base Managers and Senior Aircrew Officers on all matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the bases.

• Liaise and conduct with the Chief Aircrew Officer for the training of Aircrew Officers.

• Undertake training and skills updating as directed by the Chief Pilot.

Mandatory requirements:

• Possession of an Air Transport Pilots Licence (Helicopter)

• 2500 hours minimum on helicopters. May be reduced to 2000 hours if applicant has previous SAR/EMS/QRFAME experience.

• 1500 hours command in helicopters.

• 1000 hours multi-engine turbine command experience.

• 500 hours night experience in helicopters

• Current Class 1 Medical

• 5 multi-engine Helicopter command instrument rating renewals

• Hold or has held a Flight Instructor Rating, Helicopter with multi-engine and day/night privileges or has satisfactorily completed a course in training in the aeronautical knowledge and aeronautical skills of a flight instructor that was conducted:

o Within the Defence Force of Australia; or

o Within the Central Flying Schools of the RNZAF or RAF.

• In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and to participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.

Highly desirable requirements:

• Hold or have held a CASA CAR 217 and Flight Examiner Rating approval

• Type Rated on AW139 helicopters.
