About the role
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced and qualified Multi-Engine Helicopter Pilots to join our Aviation & Critical Services team, and fulfill the key personnel position within the Flight Operations Management team as the Flight Operations Manager.
Babcock Mission Critical Services conducts medical transport and emergency service operations throughout Australia. The successful applicant will ideally be co-located with one of our operational bases, however, Babcock offer an agile work environment that facilitates travel and enables remote work from any preferred home location as required.
The Flight Operations Manager (FOM) reports to the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) for all flight operations matters, other than training and checking matters, and will understudy the HOFO as the deputy HOFO, and be the designated alternate HOFO. The FOM reports to the Head of Training and Checking (HOTC) for all training and checking matters.
Duties and responsibilities of the FOM include:
Reporting to the HOFO, and in cooperation with the flight operations management team, contributing to management of company flying operations.
Participating and contributing to the company safety incident reporting and investigation process in accordance with the SMS.
Maintaining personal pilot competencies and currencies, and performing the duties of a line pilot when required.
Assisting other company departments as a flight operations subject matter expert to support flight operations technical enquiries, and other specialist matters.
Where qualified, conducting ground, flight and simulator training as check pilot, flight instructor and flight examiner, to support internal training and checking activities, contracted training and checking activities, and approved Part 141 and 142 flight training activities.
About you
The successful candidate must be an industry leader, and satisfy the following contract minimum qualifications and experience:
The ability to gain CASA approval as HOFO (filling alternate role) for Part 119/138 operations
Have a satisfactory record in the conduct or management of air transport operations
CASA ATPL
Class 1 Medical
Instrument Rating with MEH endorsement and minimum 3 renewals
2000+ hrs total helicopter
1000+ hrs PIC helicopter
500+ hrs PIC MEH, not including ICUS
100+ hrs instrument flying time
200+ hrs night
AW139 and/or B412 type rating and 100+ hrs experience on type
NVIS rating
Low-level rating with winch endorsement
Desirable
Flight Instructor Rating
Flight Examiner Rating
Have a satisfactory record in the conduct or management of training and checking in relation to air operations
