Chief Pilot and Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) The Aviator Group is seeking an experienced manager and suitably qualified aviation professional to join our senior management team in the role of Chief Pilot (CP) and Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) in Brisbane or Mackay. ABOUT AVIATOR GROUP The Aviator Group has established itself as a leading provider of specialist Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services in Australia. We also undertake Search and Rescue (SAR), executive charter and utility services to a diverse customer base. Aviator operates from bases at Gladstone, Hay Point, Mackay and Port Hedland with additional bases planned soon. ROLE DESCRIPTION The CP HOFO is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for ensuring the safe, professional and efficient operations of the fleet of EC135, A109 and AS350 aircraft fleet. As the nominated Flight Operations regulatory post-holder, the CP HOFO will be responsible for the development and maintenance of strategies and policies to achieve high standards of Flight Safety, Flight Crew Training, Technical Support, Fleet Operations, Flight Operations Quality and Regulatory Compliance. The CP HOFO is responsible for the timely and relevant dissemination of information concerning safety, security and operational matters, including monitoring safety occurrences and the development of recommendations arising from. The CP HOFO is integral to the selection of suitable and properly qualified personnel to be recruited for Flight Crew and other specialised duties within the department. Effective people management skills of Flight Crew are essential to promote corporate values and objectives, and for development of a well-briefed and highly motivated workforce. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and CASR 141/142 Head of Operations (HOO), the CP HOFO will require the necessary acumen to establish a departmental strategy and budget to meet current and planned future growth, ensuring sufficient qualified flight crew to fly the planned schedule in the most effective and cost-efficient manner. This will include the development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate systems within the department to ensure the efficient use of the company resources allocated to Flight Operations and adequate operations planning. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE PRE-REQUISITES
To be considered for this key executive role, applicants will need to possess the following qualifications and experience.
Significant flight operations management experience corresponding to the role
ME Command experience and hold/have held a MECIR
Australian Airline Transport Pilot Licence Helicopter (ATPL H)
Current Australian Class 1 Aviation Medical
Ability to obtain and maintain CASA approval as Chief Pilot
Australian resident and able to hold and maintain an ASIC and MSIC card
Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis and internationally as required
Undertake a psychological and flight assessment to determine suitability for role
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE ATTRIBUTES
Tertiary and/or relevant aviation management qualifications
Relevant Training & Checking experience
EC135/A109 experience
Marine Pilot Transfer (MPT) experience
