About us
The Authority is a Crown entity, responsible for the safety and security of New Zealand’s civil aviation system. It has two business arms – the regulatory arm (the Civil Aviation Authority), which is responsible for the safety oversight of the New Zealand civil aviation system, and the security arm (the Aviation Security Service), which provides aviation security services at airports across New Zealand.
About the role
As the Team Leader Flight Operations, Helicopter and Agricultural, you will be leading and working closely with a highly motivated team of aviation professionals, dedicated to positively influencing aviation safety standards. You will provide specialist technical support and flight operations related advice to the Manager Helicopter and Agricultural Operations, team members and staff across the Authority. You will be joining the Authority at a time when aviation safety management system requirements are being introduced into New Zealand.
This position is Wellington based and requires regular domestic travel.
What we’re looking for
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold or have held an ICAO recognised professional pilot licence (Helicopter)
Experience in flight instruction, multi-engine, IFR, and/or other specialist operations
Proven experience in effectively managing and supporting a team across all areas of staff management including performance management
Experience with coaching, mentoring, and staff development in order to build highly effective teams
High level of relevant technical skill and experience in a broad range of commercial helicopter operations
Proven experience in applying technical data and procedures relative to helicopter operations
Sound understanding of the New Zealand civil aviation legislative and regulatory framework and other statutory requirements affecting the helicopter and agricultural sectors of the aviation industry
