The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Training and Checking pilot looking for their next challenge to support our Rotary Wing operation. Our Rotary Wing team has a fleet of five rotary wing aircraft and operates three bases in Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville. Our team of highly trained personnel provides aeromedical retrievals, search and rescue and law enforcement support.


You will facilitate and conduct high quality training and checking to support QPS aviation operations. Our organisation is experiencing significant growth and rewarding opportunities await the right applicant. This position is a full-time 3-year contract. The position is Brisbane based with the flexibility to work from our North Queensland bases in Cairns and Townsville.

Requirements:

Mandatory

• Possession of an Air Transport Pilots Licence (Helicopter) • 2500 hours minimum on helicopters. May be reduced to 2000 hours if applicant has previous SAR/EMS/QFRAME experience. • 1500 hours command in helicopters. • 1000 hours multi-engine turbine command experience. • 500 hours night experience in helicopters. • Current Class 1 Medical. • 5 multi-engine helicopter command instrument rating renewals. • Hold or has held a Flight Instructor Rating, Helicopter with multi-engine and day/night privileges or has satisfactorily completed a course in training in the aeronautical knowledge and aeronautical skills of a flight instructor that was conducted:

1. Within the Defence Force of Australia; or 2. Within the Central Flying Schools of the RNZAF or RAAF.

Highly Desirable

• Hold or have held a CASA Flight Examiner Rating. • Type Rated on AW139 helicopters. • Formal tertiary qualifications in Project Management • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Key Accountabilities

• Facilitate and conduct training and assist in the development of training and checking programs in accordance with the organisational Operations Manual. • Fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), multi-engine AW139 helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks. • Coordinate and conduct project and training development as directed by the Head of Flight Operations / Head of Training & Checking. • Liaise closely with Senior Flight Crews on all matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the bases • Liaise with and conduct Aircrew and Rescue Crew Officer training with the Chief Aircrew Officer

In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
