As the owner and operator of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Northland Westpac Rescue Helicopter services, we provide critical emergency air ambulance, rescue, and medical transport services across Te Tai Tokerau and Tāmaki Makaurau. As an AW169 Co-Pilot, you'll play a vital role in supporting life-saving rescue and aeromedical operations. Working alongside experienced pilots, aircrew officers, intensive care paramedics, doctors, and emergency services personnel, you'll help deliver safe, professional, and effective aviation services when communities need them most.

We are seeking a professional and safety-focused AW169 Co-Pilot to join our Flight Operations team based in Whangārei.


This is an exciting opportunity to become part of one of New Zealand's leading rescue helicopter organisations, operating in a challenging and rewarding environment where no two days are the same. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll support rescue, retrieval, and aeromedical missions while maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety, operational excellence, and patient focus.


What you'll do


  • Support safe and compliant AW169 flight operations across rescue, retrieval, and aeromedical missions

  • Operate in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority regulations, company procedures, and operational standards

  • Conduct NVIS, VFR, IFR, and hoist operations as authorised

  • Work closely with pilots, aircrew officers, clinical crews, and support teams

  • Contribute to a strong safety culture and safe operational decision-making

  • Participate in training, checking, and professional development activities

  • Maintain operational readiness and regulatory compliance requirements

  • Deliver exceptional professionalism while representing Northern Rescue Helicopter throughout the region

What we're looking for


Essential


  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand

  • Current NZ Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) – CPL(H)

  • Instrument Rating examination credit

  • Unrestricted Night Rating

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety requirements and Part 119 regulations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt positively to change

  • Fluency in spoken and written English


Desirable


  • Instrument flight experience

  • Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience

  • Hoist operations experience

  • Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operational experience

  • Experience working in diverse and multicultural environments
