Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) employs over 550 people throughout Queensland. We are a vibrant organisation servicing over 36,000+ members. Formally established in 1930, we are the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising of 58 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches. Our organisation also includes supporters' clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants. We are directly affiliated with, and are a part of Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF).

Our Organisation encompasses several diverse arms – lifesaving services, community education, membership services, surf sports, fundraising, aviation, lifeguards and commercial training.


About the Role:


Commencing operations in 1976, Surf Life Saving Queensland Aviation operates four EC135 helicopters in South East Queensland across 3 locations Archerfield, Carrara and Caloundra in support of the Community. SLSQ Aviation provides turn key solutions to customers including all aviation related training and assessment, plus engineering support. We have quietly built a mature safety culture with an emphasis on education, empowerment and encouragement, our key personnel are active within regulatory and industry working groups.


SLSQ Aviation is seeking to recruit 4 full-time pilots to join our tight-knit team. Based at our Archerfield location these roles will commence between July and December 2023.


Key Responsibilities:


• Operate EC135 and Bell 429 helicopters under the VFR and IFR, including NVIS

• Typical roster periods will also include standby periods

• Actively participate in the Safety Management System

• Contribute to company SOP’s to facilitate continuous improvement of the operation

• Strive to ensure customer satisfaction and high standards of service are maintained


About You:


• Ability to stay calm is stressful situations

• Positive and can-do attitude

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Qualifications and Experience:


Required:


• Total hours helicopter experience: 2000

• Total hours in command helicopters: 1500

• Total hours in turbine engine helicopters: 1000

• Total hours at night in helicopters: 200

• NVIS rating

• IFR rating


High desirable:


• EC135 type rating

• Bell 429 type rating

• Technical proficiency

• Good interpersonal relationship skills

• Social media discretion
