The Role

As a Line Pilot (Rotary Wing) with the Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force) you will gain a range of training and experiences that are not available with other employers. You will have the opportunity to support the Tactical Response Group (TRG), assist police patrols and winch in night operations using Night Vision Goggles; Be involved in tactical flying operations with the TRG including assaults and live fire missions; Assist the Water Police and perform Search and Rescue roles on both land and sea throughout the State; Conduct day and night patrols to assist police on the ground, detect traffic offenders and locate stolen cars; Conduct drug detection and eradication operations, and be involved in air surveillance operations and K9 transport and deployment.

WA Police Force are currently engaged in the procurement of 2 new Airbus H145 D3 helicopters and the successful applicant may be required to travel to Germany to undergo type training on appointment. This shift work position operates on a rotational roster basis and includes night, day, afternoon, weekend and public holiday shifts. The payment of shift penalties will apply.

Position Objective

This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of all rotary wing aircraft operated by the Police Air Wing by piloting the aircraft in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Regulations, Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, the Civil Aviation Orders and Western Australian Police Air Wing Rotary Operations Manual.
