HEMS Line Pilot Required-NSW

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has been providing world class aeromedical and search and rescue services to our communities in Northern NSW for over 40 years. We operate in support of NSW Ambulance from three bases; Tamworth, Belmont and Lismore, with a Head Office and engineering facility located in Newcastle, NSW.


We currently have an opportunity for an experienced and professional, HEMS Line Pilot to join our highly skilled team, comprising an ACO, Doctor and NSWA Critical Care Paramedic. Operations are conducted 24/7, utilising NVG and we are uncompromising in our pursuit of high standards and safety. With flexibility regarding home base (Belmont, Tamworth or Lismore), our equal time rostering model, is based on a 4:4 pattern (2day/2 night) and our recently updated generous pay and allowances package, leads the industry. This role will be a touring role requiring the flexibility to travel across our network.


To be considered for this role you will be a well-regarded Pilot, able to demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

  • CASA ATPL (H) & Current Class 1 Medical

  • 2500Hrs Rotary Wing, 2000Hrs PIC Rotary Wing

  • Instrument Rated on multi engine helicopters

  • Low Level Rating with Winch endorsement

  • Helicopter command experience in a variety of operations

  • Previous EMS/SAR experience

  • NVG and IFR rating

Whilst not essential, an AW139 Type Rating, DG, HUET and EBS training will be highly regarded.


To be successful, you will be a team player, with a demonstrated commitment to safety and the continuous improvement of operational process and procedures. This position is identified Category A/Category A - High Risk in accordance with NSW Health’s framework for the assessment, screening and vaccination of workers to minimise the risk of transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. As such, it is an essential requirement that you comply with the Service’s policies relating to Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases, including the provision of evidence of protection.


You will need to be prepared to complete a psychometric assessment, Working with Children Check and National Police History Check. A salary package will be determined in accordance with the Company’s Registered Enterprise Agreement.
