Helicopter Pilot & Station Hand | HELEN SPRINGS STATION, NT

We have an opening for a full-time Helicopter Pilot/Station Hand to join our operations at Helen Springs Station, NT. Ideally the incumbent will start early February 2023. This role offers a great opportunity to join an exciting, industry leading Agribusiness, with scope for advancement after training and experience.

About the Property

Helen Springs Station, situated in the Barkly Tablelands in the NT, is a 5,600km2 breeding property which runs up to 27,000 head of cattle. The nearest town is Tennant Creek. Lush green gardens and lawns surround the station complex, which includes a swimming pool and social club. Helen Springs prides itself on providing a workplace that encourages personal growth, in a friendly and supportive team-based environment. Throughout the year, mustering operations and general station work intertwines with social events across the NT.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager Kidman Pastoral and Chief Pilot you will provide aerial mustering services to company stations in the NT. You will be based at Helen Springs Station. This is not a fly in, fly out (FIFO) roster. This will be a varied role in which you will have the opportunity to utilise multiple skillsets, firstly in aerial operations and then, when this is not required, working as a general Station Hand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aerial cattle mustering and general aerial work (checking of livestock and facilities);

  • Ferrying helicopters for scheduled maintenance

  • Ferrying company staff between properties (when required).

Skills and Experience:

  • A CASA Commercial Pilot Licence Helicopter – CPL (H);

  • Aircraft class rating for Single-Engine Helicopter (SEH);

  • R22 endorsement, with a low-level rating and aerial mustering endorsement;

  • R44 endorsement (desirable);

  • Minimum 800 hours of aerial mustering experience (desirable);

  • Current Class 1 medical certificate;

  • Current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC);

  • Experience in the movement, handling and processing of cattle;

  • Fencing, stock water and general maintenance skills;

  • Competent operation of various station plant, machinery and equipment and basic maintenance;

  • A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely;

  • Good understanding of animal welfare practices;

  • A genuine passion for cattle and station life.
