Helicopter Pilot-New Zealand



Position Overview:


You will operate a privately owned helicopter, EC130 B4. You will be responsible for ensuring the overall safe operation of the aircraft while providing positive and professional training. You will conduct regular flight instruction and safety pilot duties. You’ll also ensure compliance with all aviation safety standards and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate helicopters as a safety pilot for various private missions.

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of aircraft, including pre-flight inspections, flight planning, and post-flight evaluations.

  • Ensure the aircraft is upkept to an exceptional standard, i.e. daily cleaning and compressor rinsing.

  • Ensure the helicopter is well-maintained and report any mechanical issues.

  • Maintain flight logs and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate with air traffic control and follow all relevant procedures for flight clearance and safety.

  • Provide passengers with an informative and enjoyable flying experience.

  • Stay current with weather conditions and adjust flight plans as necessary.


Qualifications:


  • Valid CAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot License and Class 1 medical (or equivalent, depending on location).

  • Minimum of 2,000 hours of flight experience, including significant hours on type, EC130B4.

  • Valid Instructor Rating, C Category minimum.

  • Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, safety protocols, and flight operations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented approach.

  • Ability to work independently, and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in flight training regime.

  • Night rating, and IFR rated.

  • Mountainous terrain experience.

  • Ability to perform in high-pressure situations with a calm and professional demeanor.
