About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) Rotary Wing, the Head of Training and Checking (HOTC) is responsible for the management and leadership of the LifeFlight Australia’s world-class Rotary Wing training and checking program. This includes training and checking related to operations conducted under the LifeFlight CASR Part 119 Air Operators Certificate (AOC), Part 138 Operating Certificate (OC), and Part 142 training and checking Certificate.

This full-time role is based at our Training Academy at Brisbane Airport, or our Corporate Office in Brisbane City, and will require travel to our Operational Bases throughout Queensland at times. About You

With an established career in aviation from either military or civilian sectors, working closely with the HOFO and management team, you will be passionate about personnel development through successful training programs and a change champion through the ongoing development of our industry leading training and checking program. Skills and attributes required for this role include:

• Several years’ experience in senior management roles within the aviation industry (HOTC or Senior FER preferred) • Meet the CASA requirements to be assessed as suitable for a HOTC. • Robust understanding of safety and aviation regulations and the ability to lead company activities within this legislative framework • A background in training and adult learning principles • Critical thinking skills with emotional intelligence and an agile, adaptable approach • A team player who is comfortable and confident in putting forward ideas and suggestions for ongoing improvement • Strong leadership skills, and the capacity to interact effectively across all business units at a senior level • Solutions-focused and problem-solving mindset; strengths in both operational and strategic tasks
