About the Role
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Head of Training and Checking to join our team at The Helicopter Line. As a senior person accepted by the Civil Aviation Authority NZ, you will be responsible for effectively and efficiently carrying out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with all applicable legislation, rules and air operators’ expositions. You will lead by example and be a powerful and highly effective promoter of The Helicopter Line’s safety policy and commitment to Just Culture.
Responsibilities
With a strong focus on safety, ensure the organisation’s checking and training procedures are carried out efficiently and effectively while remaining compliant with the organisation’s Exposition, Civil Aviation Rules and relevant safe practices;
Plan and manage the organisation’s training programme and be accountable for operational competency assessment processes for all relevant staff;
Ensure the latest training techniques and new and emerging technologies consistent with best industry practice are sourced, assessed and, where appropriate, implemented;
Ensure best practice delivery of pilot training and be accountable for The Helicopter Line’s Checking and Training responsibilities;
Lead by example in promoting the organisation’s safety policy and Just Culture and support the operational effectivity of the organisation’s Safety Management System;
Serve as the functional manager to whom flight examiners, flight instructors and ground instructors report when engaged in Training and Checking activities
Minimum Requirements
CPL (H);
Current to act as pilot-in-command on Part 135 operations;
Knowledgeable experience in mountain flying;
At least 3 years as a pilot-in-command on Part 135 operations;
At least 2 years’ experience in a check and training role;
At least 100 hours exercising instructor privileges on the appropriate category of aircraft to which parts 119/135 apply;
Preferably a B-Category Instructors rating (at least a D-Category Instructor rating);
Sound leadership, solid general industry experience along with the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
