Offshore Services Australasia (OSA) is the leading supplier of helicopters services to the Australian Offshore industry. We operate multiple helicopter types from a number of bases throughout Australia and Timor Leste providing support to a number of the major producers. About the role:
OSA is looking to appoint a Head of Flying Operations/Chief Management Pilot. Reporting globally to the Director Flight Standards, and locally to the Operations Director you will work in collaboration with the Australian Senior Leadership team in ensuring business leadership and overall management of OSA APAC Flight operations and training.
As the nominated person for the OSA AOC, you will ensure that all OSA aviation operations meet the safety and service delivery standards expected by regulators and internal and external customers. The role will maintain a high standard of operational excellence, with a focus on promoting a Just Culture that supports a continuous process of improvement. Key responsibilities include:
• Management of OSA’s flying operations including compliance to regulations, commitment to safety, training, and developing a high performance/commitment to excellence and safety culture. • Drive departmental efficiencies which includes structure, cost management, headcount, rosters and work practices. • Departmental manpower planning and implementation to deliver customer contract requirements. • Active contributor to the Flight Standards Team on policy development and feedback. • Drive national implementation and adherence of the flight standards harmonised flight operations standards and procedures within OSA. • Retain a close customer focus on all flight operations and training matters. • Support Sales and Commercial teams with tender preparation. • Drive implementation of projects, safe systems and adherence in accordance with harmonised flight operations, training standards and procedures. • Assumes legal accountability for the safety conduct of flight operations and training. • Lead the Safety and Quality team with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and flight compliance programs and reviews. • Liaise with the Regulator and ensure OSA’s compliance with all appropriate rules and CASA regulations • Adhere to all SMS accountabilities • Travel overseas and interstate as required, at times with short notice. • May be assigned other duties as required Skills and Experience:
• Minimum Australian ATPL (H) and with experience as an offshore and/or SAR pilot. • Post graduate qualifications in Management or similar is advantageous. • Rated on multiple types presently operating by OSA is preferred. • Meet CASA requirements for CASA Head of Flying Operations / Chief Pilot. • Must be IOGP compliant for Captain. • Must hold a command helicopter instrument rating with an Instructor and/or examiner rating on one or more of OSA AUS active types. • Effective leadership skills with the ability to mentor and drive team performance. • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels. • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written. • Excellent Customer engagement skills. • Demonstrable experience with operational, commercial and budget planning processes to support business objectives. • Knowledge and/or experience in safety, quality assurance and risk management systems. • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple demands, in a high volume, rapidly changing environment.
