Head of Flying Operations (Chief Pilot)
Microflite is looking for an experienced, motivated, and highly organised pilot, to fill the role of Head of Flying Operations. This role reports to Microflite’s General Manager – Aviation and will be filled by someone who is a highly motivated and experienced professional, has a passion for leadership, and a strong understanding of current and proposed aviation legislation.
Position Objective
As a senior leader of Microflite, the position ensures the safe operation of the aircraft and holds the “Key Personnel” position of Head of Flying Operations in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) legislation requirements. This pivotal role will play a key part in driving our growth, ensuring the highest standards of operational performance, and shaping the future of our flight operations.

Qualifications & Experience:
A current CASA CPL(H) or CASA ATPL(H)
Aerial application rating and IFR and emergency services experience (Fires, Police and EMS Helicopter)
Substantial knowledge of CASA aviation legislation, including recent and upcoming changes in legislation
Minimum of 3000 hours total helicopter experience, of which 1500 hours must be Pilot in Command (PIC) and 500 hours must be as a PIC of a twin engine helicopter
Multi Engine Helicopter Instrument Rating
Helicopter low level rating, with winch/sling endorsement
Proven leadership and team management skills
Develop and implement strategies to support the company’s growth and expansion plans
Monitor and improve operational efficiencies, including resource allocation and process improvements
Oversee the training and development of flight crew to maintain high performance and safety standards
Ability to model best practice, and to drive beneficial change within the organisation
Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, airports and other key stakeholders
Proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing currency of aviation legislation and legislative changes, and proven record of showing imitation in approach to anticipated changes
The salary range for this role will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
