Head of Flight Operations-Brisbane
This is a full-time 3-year contract position located in Brisbane. Applications may also be considered for future Rotary Wing leadership positions.
Key Accountabilities:
Your Key Accountabilities will include:
Safely manage and oversee all Rotary Wing flying operations for the State of Queensland's Rotary Wing Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and its respective approvals.
Ensure all responsibilities of the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) position under the CASR 1998 regulations are fulfilled in an efficient and effective manner.
Regularly report to the AOC holder on the compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of all matters pertaining to Rotary Wing Operations and its performance in that regard.
Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team to deliver rotary wing services and promote and drive the development and implementation of innovative strategic activities.
Continually develop, maintain, and improve the organisations Air Operators Exposition to minimise risk and maximise operational capability.
Oversee and coordinate all activities pertaining to the safety, compliance and operations of rotary wing aircraft and crews.
Oversee the organisations approved training and checking system, ensuring quality of training outcomes in an efficient and effective manner.
Actively and visibly lead, support and contribute to the organisations Safety Management System and its implementation into Rotary Wing operations.
Support organisational budget and forecast activities ensuring that all Rotary Wing requirements are accurately captured and monitored enabling ongoing performance monitoring.
Lead Rotary Wing organisational change and project management initiatives ensuring safe and effective implementation of improvement initiatives in the operation.
Support the development, and actively monitor the performance of the Rotary Wing Fatigue Management System.
Fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), twin-engine helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.
Mandatory requirements:
Licences & Ratings:
Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
Low Level Rating
Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating
Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - 5 Renewals
Flight Hours Requirements:
Minimum 2500 hours total time
Minimum 1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter
Minimum 500 hours Night PIC Helicopter
Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter
Minimum 1200 hours Turbine Helicopter
Minimum 100 hours NVIS Operations
Certification & Documentation:
Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical
Qualifications & Experience:
A comprehensive understanding of CASR 1998 Part 119, 133 and Part 138 and strong track record of operating compliantly and leading a workforce in that environment.

Flight Examiner Rating (FER)
Flight Instructor Rating (FER) - Multi Engine or previous Military Equivalent Type Ratings
Type Ratings:
AW139 Type Rating
Certification & Documentation:
Hold a current and valid passport enable international travel if required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Tertiary qualifications in aviation, business, or project management.
Strong people, culture, and performance management experience.
Computer literacy - MS Word, Excel, etc.
Special Conditions:
Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
