Flying Operations Inspector (Rotary WIng)-Fiji



The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) is the national aviation regulatory authority. CAAF is responsible for the oversight of aviation safety and security on behalf of the Government of Fiji as part of the States’ responsibility to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.


This role will be based at CAAF HQ, Nadi.


The role involves the conduct of compliance audits and inspections, evaluation and improvements to risk management and operations controls, and maintaining governance processes within the Flight Operations Section and Air Safety Department.


This FOI-RW position reports to the Senior Flight Operations Inspector – Domestic (SFOI-D) and will be responsible for fulfilling the following critical outcomes:


  • Flight Operations & Standards

  • Efficient and Reliant Audit Functions

  • Risk Management Control

  • Well- informed Management & Staff

  • Fully Compliant Flight Operations

  • Teamwork and Cooperation

  • CAAF Image, Values and Standards


To excel in this role, the applicant must possess the following:


2 years or more of regulatory experience or 5 years or more of Industry experience including at least 2 years as a flight operations inspector (helicopters) and experience in developing implementation of flight operations standards.


Valid Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter) with a Flight Radio Telephony Operator Licence.


Held Check and Training Pilot (Helicopter) approval with an operator or have conducted base check training and other operational training.


Experience in safety management systems (SMS), with human factors and accident/incident investigation desirable.


Good understanding and knowledge of helicopter regulatory audit procedures and policies.


Proven ability to analyse and present all audit findings to Management and key stakeholders.


Suitable knowledge of the ICAO Annexes and Standards, Fiji Civil Aviation Acts, Air Navigation Regulations, CAAF Standards, Documents (SD), and other relevant legislative requirements and procedures.
