CareFlight was founded in 1986 as an aeromedical charity with the mission to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community. Today, we deliver services nationally. Our critical care doctors, paramedics and nurses are specially trained in emergency and trauma, pre-hospital and remote medicine and we use helicopters, jet aircraft, turbo-prop planes and road vehicles to reach and treat patients wherever they are.
We run accredited training for clinical specialists; operate extensive aviation and logistic training for our employees and other organisations; run a range of free education and training programs in regional, rural and remote areas, and partner with emergency service organisations, defence forces and businesses to deliver our expertise.
The role
We currently have an opportunity for a Helicopter Pilot at our Northern Operations. Touring to Darwin and other operational areas the successful candidate’s roster pattern will align to operational requirements in accordance with the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. The successful candidate will also be required to travel from time to time to support CareFlight Operations at other nominated locations and to attend training events.
Preference will be given to applicants who currently reside, or willing to reside in Darwin and who meet the following essential and desirable criteria.
Essential (Technical)
The following PIC minimums are set for operations both day and night, and must be logged in the pilot’s personal flying logbook:
AW139 Type rating
2,500 flying hours rotary wing.
2,000 flying hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) rotary wing.
1,500 flying hours PIC turbine engines.
500 flying hours PIC multi-engine rotary wing.
250 hours PIC AW139.
50 flying hours IFR.
50 flying hours PIC NVIS on helicopters; and
CASA operational ratings and endorsements:
Instrument Rating; MEH, IAP 2D, IAP 3D;
Night Vision Imaging System – G1;
Low Level H; Winch.
Essential (Non-Technical)
Demonstrated experience working in small specialist teams.
Demonstrated understanding of and competency with HF/NTS, Risk Management and Safety Management Systems.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to take on non-flying related secondary duties; and
Demonstrated competencies with computing systems such as Word, Excel, and iPad Flight Planning application.
