About the role


PHI Aviation is seeking EOI for experienced and dedicated Helicopter AW189 Pilots to join our team at our Broome Base. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our helicopter fleet, ensuring all flights are conducted in compliance with company policies and aviation regulations.

This position will be on a 21:21 touring roster flying from any major capital in Australia.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • As part of the crew ensuring completion of flights as scheduled in a safe and timely manner as appropriate.

  • The observance of all Regulator and Client rules and regulations and the relevant OEM RFM.

  • The AW189 pilot shall conform to the Company directives and procedures contained within the Company Flight Operations Manual and Instructions as appropriate, during the flight planning, pre‐flight inspection and checks, in flight operations and in postflight reporting and activity.

  • Pilots shall perform such duties as are specifically laid down by the Company regarding the operation of helicopters. As part of these duties, they must ensure that they are aware of and understand all operational duties relating to the conduct of the flight, including the checking of flight plan fuel requirements, ATC restrictions and weather.

  • Undertaking those tasks and duties of a non‐flying nature including, but not limited to, paperwork, helicopter husbandry and facility housekeeping etc., that may be assigned to them from time to time by a Senior Base Pilot, Base & Contract Manager or higher management.

  • Ensuring all licences, ratings, medical certificates and applicable proficiency requirements are current in accordance with regulation and Company requirements prior to undertaking any flight.

  • Providing timely advice to the Training Department and Senior Base Pilot or Base & Contract Manager whenever any licence, rating, FLV, visa, medical certificate, or proficiency check is coming due or has been renewed.

  • Ensuring that any training or testing required to maintain any of the requirements in the points above has been assigned to them in a timeframe that allows them to remain fully qualified for their assigned operation.

  • Co‐pilots shall perform such duties as are specifically laid down by the Company regarding the operation of helicopters. As part of these duties, they must ensure that they are aware of and understand all operational duties relating to the conduct of the flight, including the checking of flight plan fuel requirements, ATC restrictions and weather. When necessary, they are to draw the Pilot‐in‐Command's attention to any matter which they consider may have been overlooked.


To be considered for this role, you will need:


  • Copilot more than 500 Hours muti-engine (ME) multi-crew helicopter

  • Captain 4 years offshore experience

  • Captain 1500 hours ME multi-crew

  • Captain 1000 hours PICUS or PIC

  • Captain 100 hours night flight incl 25 hours night offshore

  • Captain 500 hours offshore command

  • CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate

  • AW189 highly regarded but not essential (Type rating to be provided)
