We are seeking a self-motivated and proactive individual to fulfil the role of Chief Pilot – New Zealand. Reporting to the Country Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of NZCAA Regulatory processes, together with the coordination of safe, efficient flight operations.


Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Hold the post of Senior Person for Flight and Ground Operations under the NZ AOC.

  • Assist with new contract implementation including integration, standardisation of manuals, procedures, checklists, and training.

  • Maintain the Operations suite of manuals including:

    • Supervision, production and amendment.

    • Liaison with authorities on all matters about flight operations, including variations to the AOC.

    • Liaison with external agencies that may affect operations.

  • Ensure compliance with loading procedures specified for each aircraft type used by the operator and proper compilation of loading documents, including passenger and cargo manifests.

  • Issue Directives and Notices as required.

  • Manage the selection of applicants for employment within flight operations and approval where appropriate.

  • Ensuring that crew scheduling complies with fatigue management and flight and duty time regulations, and that crew members are kept informed of changes to regulations and standards.

  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures within the AOC meet ‘best practice’ through interaction with PHI Global Standards.

  • Act as the Deputy to the Head of Training (NZ) in their absence.

  • Other tasks as directed by your manager from time to time.

We are seeking applicants with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Currency and competency in aircraft operations.

  • ICAO ATPL with ratings on AW139 aircraft.

  • Extensive experience in petroleum offshore operations in multi-engine IFR helicopters.

  • 2000 hours on helicopters including significant multi engine, multi crew Command, with a focus on offshore operations.

  • Instructor rating or prior checking and training experience (desirable but not essential).

  • Operational management, leadership, or supervisory experience.

  • Applicants with Flight Examiner experience should also consider applying.

This is a New Plymouth based role, assistance with relocation may be considered.
