HeliSpirit is a leading helicopter company with its head office located in Kununurra and a further 10 satellite bases throughout the Kimberley, Pilbara, and Goldfields in WA and Katherine in the Northern Territory. We proudly provide charter, contract and tourism services with our extensive fleet of over 25 aircraft including AS350, B206, B206(L), R66, R44 and R22 helicopter types.
HeliSpirit is seeking a Chief Pilot who is a positive and safety focused leader to join our team, now in its 37th year of operation. This is a pivotal role in a well-respected helicopter Company which provides a range of services and has potential for substantial further growth.
The Chief Pilot provides regulatory and procedural leadership and guidance to the Company and its team of pilots, ensuring compliance, training and operational goals are achieved, as well as being a mentor and facilitator to develop the team of highly capable pilots. We are seeking a Chief Pilot who can also assist in the expansion into new operations, share ideas and provide demonstrated leadership and expertise for continuous improvement of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Accountable Manager for all helicopter flight operations in accordance with legal, client and CASA requirements
Lead the pilot team by example to implement the highest standards of aircraft handling, professionalism, safety and compliance through all aspects of flight and ground operations
Participate in the continuous identification of risks
Oversee and lead the Company’s rigorous system of pilot recurrency checking and training
Maintain all relevant administration, rostering, safety and licensing systems to the highest of standards
Lead and support the flight operations team and work closely with senior management to develop and implement future growth plans
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience in a management role
Proficient knowledge of the Australian Civil Aviation Regulations and Orders
Australian CPL(H)
3000+ hours total helicopter experience
1500+ hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
500+ hours turbine
B206 Endorsement
R44 Endorsement
Low-level Rating
Bush experience including confined area landings and low-level operations
High level written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills
Current Class 1 Australian Medical
Desirable Requirements:
IFR or night experience
Twin engine experience
Instructor rating and experience
AS350 Endorsement
Sling load experience
HUET
CRM
First Aid Certificate
