The Pacific Flying School (PFS), part of the Joyce Aviation (Fiji) Group (JAG), has the requirement for a dynamic Chief Flying Instructor with the following qualifications and capabilities:


ATPL / CPL (FW) with multi-engine instrument rating or equivalent acceptable to the Fiji Regulator.


Grade One Instructor Rating (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years aviation industry experience and at least 5,000 hrs flying experience including a minimum of 2,000 hours of flight instruction.


  • Current Command Instrument Rating with at least 3 renewals.

  • Multi-engine training approval.

  • Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) instructional experience.

  • Meet Fit and Proper Person Requirements.

The Joyce Aviation (Fiji) Group, with a fleet of 20 aircraft, is a progressive organisation based from Nadi Airport, Fiji which conducts both fixed and rotary wing charter, SAR & medical evacuations, throughout the Fiji Islands as well as skydiving and both fixed and rotary pilot training.


As the Chief Flying Instructor / Chief Pilot, you’ll lead and mentor our team of pilots and instructors, developing appropriate aviation decision making, to reinforce our strong safety culture with continuous improvement in all aspects of our flight operations.


The following additional qualifications & attributes are an advantage:


  • At least 3 years experience as pilot in command in Single Pilot IFR operations

  • At least 3 years of Aviation Management experience.

  • Willing to work variable hours according to operational requirements.

  • Flight Examiner privileges.

  • Ratings and experience on the following aircraft: Cessna 152, 172, C182, BE-76 Duchess, Cessna 208 EX, GA-8 Airvan, PA-31 Chieftain, DHC Twin Otter, AS355 and / or Robinson R-44 helicopters.

  • Aerobatic / Unusual Attitude instructional experience.

  • Mountain Flying Experience.

  • Experience with managing a flying school that has an integrated Aviation Degree program.

  • Light / medium jet experience.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with others.


We require a Chief Flying Instructor with a can-do attitude and who can thrive under pressure, bring fresh ideas to the table, and lead their team to train and mentor the next generation of pilots for Fiji and the Pacific Islands to achieve best international standards.


With your profound understanding of aviation, you’ll act as a bridge between the company and external stake-holders & government regulators.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:


  • Maintain the standards of the pilots and operations with safety as the number one priority.

  • Lead, manage and mentor our team of pilots and instructors.

  • Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives.

  • Fly company aircraft on instructional and passenger/freight flights as required.

  • Strive for continuous improvement and efficiency in the operation.
