Microflite is offering an enthusiastic aspiring helicopter pilot an opportunity to commence their career in aviation with a 4-year cadetship programme. Our cadet will develop valuable aviation industry experience while being supported and subsidised in their study for a CPL(H).
The successful candidate will be enrolled to study and complete their training to become a Commercial Helicopter Pilot through Microflite’s affiliate, Melbourne Heli (based at Essendon Airport), with 50% of the total cost of obtaining a 105-hour CPL(H) subsidised by Microflite.
For the full 4-year duration of the cadetship, the cadet will work full-time in a ground crew role, supporting the day-to-day operations of Microflite. Relevant training and qualifications will be provided.
The duties of the cadet will include but are not limited to:
• General hangar and warehouse organisation and cleanliness
• Daily assistance to staff, including operations, flight, and engineering teams
• Ongoing organisation, and maintenance of aircraft kits and role equipment
• Refuelling operations throughout Victoria, driving trucks and vehicles with trailers
• Aircraft and ground vehicle cleaning and resupply
• Ground support including passenger management
• Road transport of goods, equipment, and personnel
The successful cadet will be awarded a contract that includes the following terms:
• 4-year fixed term contract of employment with Microflite as a cadet
• Helicopter training CPL(H) will be completed from Year 2 onwards.
Year 1 – No CPL(H) training
Year 2 – CPL(H) theory (completed between April and October)
Year 3 – Flight Training (completed between April and October)
Year 4 – Flight Training, CPL(H) flight examination (completed between April and October).
• Salary equivalent to minimum wage for an adult
• Travel allowance when away from your designated base overnight
• 50% of the costs associated with attaining a 105-hour CPL(H) to be covered by Microflite
Candidate requirements:
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
• High standard of English language proficiency
• Must have held an Australian Car Drivers license for more than 24 months
• Willingness to travel, including extended periods away from home
• Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and a genuine desire to progress a career in the helicopter industry
• Have completed year 12 or equivalent
• Can obtain a Class 1 Aviation medical, Police Check and a Working with Children check
• Commitment to the full 4-year term of the cadetship
Our successful cadet will commence a 4-year term of employment with us in the 4th quarter of 2022.
