About the Role
As part of our succession planning, we are preparing for an exciting transition, with our current Senior Helicopter Flight Instructor moving on in June 2025. We are seeking a full-time Grade 1 or 2 Senior Helicopter Flight Instructor to join our team and continue this legacy of excellence.
Reporting directly to the Director/Head of Operations. In this pivotal role, you will lead and deliver high-quality flight instruction to our students, overseeing both theoretical and practical training with a strong commitment to aviation standards and safety regulations. As Senior Instructor, you’ll play a key role in coordinating the team of instructors and providing mentorship to the junior instructors, conducting advanced training courses, and working closely with management to enhance training programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Additionally, you’ll serve as a culture champion, actively fostering and preserving the unique, supportive environment that makes our team special. Your leadership will help ensure that our positive, growth-focused culture continues to thrive for both instructors and students alike.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver helicopter flight training in line with CASA regulations.
Lead and support a team of Helicopter Instructors, providing coaching and mentorship to enhance their skills and performance.
Conduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings, ensuring students understand goals and receive feedback.
Assess student progress, adapting training to individual needs and safety standards.
Lead and mentor Flight Instructors, supporting professional development and performance.
Provide exceptional customer service, fostering a positive experience for students and clients.
Ensure training and flight paperwork is accurately completed and organized.
Monitor and maintain aircraft safety compliance and maintenance schedules.
Track industry and CASA updates, ensuring policies align with current standards.
Conduct EOM (End of Month) reporting for operations and training compliance.
Promote a culture of safety through WH&S practices, training, and reporting.
About You
Required:
CASA Commercial Pilot License – Helicopter
Instructor Rating Grade 2 or higher
Possess excellent communication skills, the ability to engage students in a practical and classroom setting, and have a strong understanding of helicopter theory concepts
Be a confident and patient person, committed to providing a supportive learning environment for our students
Ability to ensure a clean, organised environment, actively overseeing and supporting the team in maintaining aircraft and equipment to high standards.
Professionally organised and approach in all aspects of job functionality
Excellent communication skills; able to engage and articulate effectively with individuals at all levels, from students to senior management.
