GCH Aviation Group is a family-owned business spread throughout bases in Wellington, Nelson, Blenheim, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Greymouth, Vanuatu and Fiji. We undertake a range of services, from emergency rescue and air ambulance services to commercial flights, fire and frost fighting, flight training, scenic flights – not to mention our state of the art FBO Jet Centre in Christchurch and our UAV unit. GCH Aviation is not all about helicopters, we also are proud to offer the service for the New Zealand Flying Doctors and Corporate Jet Services. We are looking for a full time/permanent EC145D2 IFR rated Pilot to fly our rescue helicopter based in Christchurch effective immediately. Details are as follows;

  • EC145D2 type rated

  • NVG endorsement as per AC91-13

  • Instrument rating – preferably SPIFR

  • Winch Experience – day, night, water and boat

  • NZ CAA Class 1 medical certificate

  • Able to pass the necessary vetting as per NZCAA/Aviation Security in order to obtain an Airside Identity card

  • Double vaccinated for Covid-19

In addition to this you will need the following minimums of flight experience:

  • 2000 PIC helicopter hours total.

  • 30 PIC night helicopter hours.

  • 100 hours instrument flight time.

  • 20 hours IMC as PIC.

It would also be extremely advantageous if you were current on HUET and CRM.

Team fit is very important to us, you need to be physically and emotionally fit and healthy in order to meet the demands of the job and an ability to work as part of a small tight-knit team is essential, as is a great sense of humour and a willingness to be flexible when required to support the wider Team.

Our Rescue Helicopter Teams work shiftwork on the “Kelly Shift” shift work rotation. Having been recognised by the NZHA Safety Recognition Awards awards with a Diamond Safety Award for 30 consecutive years-plus, no accidents resulting in serious injury to self, crew or passengers, safety is paramount to GCHA, all of our pilots are required to adhere to the Company SMS, Flight & Duty and Fatigue Management Schemes Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
