Heliwest proudly provides a wide range of helicopter services to our customers, covering mining support & heritage survey, VIP transport, Search & rescue, HEMS, mosquito control, powerline survey and general charter.

Our Jandakot head office is home to our large engineering facility and also a very busy Part 141 flight training facility.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to Lead our Operations team, based in Jandakot, WA. This is a fast paced and dynamic role matching pilots & aircraft and engineering support to the needs of our customers across predominantly the Pilbara, but also Perth, the South West, South Australia, and at times Antarctica.

You will work closely with our customers to ensure job elements such as risk management, fuel delivery, staff inductions and mobilisations are achieved ahead of time.

Internally, you’ll work closely with the Chief Pilot, Engineering Manager and the Commercial Team. You will ensure that legislative requirements are met whilst safely achieving the highest utilisation of the Heliwest helicopter fleet. Essential skills

  • A background in aviation, and familiarity with flight operations

  • A good understanding of the practical application of flight and duty rules contained within CAO 48.1 (Instrument 2019)

  • Good problem solving & analytical skills, particularly pertaining to logistics and rostering

  • Calm, diplomatic demeanour

  • Excellent customer service, with great spoken and written communication skills

  • Advanced computer skills – XL, Word

  • Demonstrable leadership experience

Highly desirable

  • Exposure to aviation operations in support of mining and/or oil & gas operations

  • Familiarity with Air Maestro software or similar, and CRM such as Insightly

  • An understanding of BARS requirements

  • Past experience providing written quotes and timely invoicing of customers

  • Ability to produce insightful written reports on a monthly basis

  • Some knowledge of helicopter maintenance vocabulary

  • Previous experience working in an aviation operations role
