Manager Flight Training Standards



Auriga Aviation is seeking an experienced training manager and suitably qualified aviation professional to join our flight operations team as Manager Flight Training Standards (MFTS) with responsibility as Head of Operations (HOO) CASR 141 and Head of Training and Checking (HOTC) CASR 119.


You will be an experienced and dedicated trainer, with demonstrated leadership skills with relevant Instructor and/or Examiner qualifications. You are responsible for effectively and safely managing training, checking, and flight standards activities for all flight crew and aircrew officers.


Based in Brisbane, the role will require regular travel, while recognising a genuine work-life balance.

Auriga Aviation has established itself as the industry leader in the provision of specialist Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services in Australia, operating a modern fleet of Airbus H135, H145, and H125 (AS350) helicopters. 


Auriga Aviation currently conducts 24/7/365 operations primarily for maritime industry clients in Gladstone, Hay Point, Mackay, Newcastle, Karratha, and Port Hedland.


ROLE DESCRIPTION


The MFTS will work collaboratively and proactively with the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO), other Managers, and relevant stakeholders in ensuring safe, professional, and efficient Aerial Work and Air Transport Operations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive training and regulatory knowledge required to lead the operations training team in accordance with our Exposition, TACM, and relevant aviation legislation.


Strong facilitation and training skills, and the ability to communicate and interact professionally and engagingly at all levels across the company, with an emphasis on a learning environment and skills development is fundamental.


The MFTS is an integral and valued member of the senior leadership team and will be required to participate in company-lead initiatives. Effective people management and leadership skills are essential for this role. The MFTS will actively support and promote company initiatives, objectives, and values; working consistently to develop and maintain a motivated and engaged workforce.


You will be required to participate in, or lead projects, as well as support routine business such as document management, systems and processes improvement, technology and innovation, people, and culture.  You will also be required to liaise with regulatory bodies, flight training organisations, and industry as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


To be considered for this key flight operations training role, a successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and experience.


  • ATPL(H)/CPL(H)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Flight Examiner and Flight Instructor

  • CASA Flight Instructor (Grade 1 or 2) and Flight Examiner Rating (NVIS and IR endorsements)

  • Minimum experience requirements in accordance with CASA regulations

  • 3000Hrs PIC Helicopter

  • 1500Hrs PIC Multi-Engine Helicopters

  • Multi-Engine (MEH) Instrument Rating with 200Hrs PIC IFR Helicopter

  • Relevant qualifications and experience on AS350, H135 and/or H145 variants highly desirable

  • Class 1 CASA Aviation Medical

  • Accomplished record in the conduct and management of air operations, training and checking, and flight operations leadership.

  • Varied Helicopter Command experience, with a strong emphasis in Offshore and HEMS operations well regarded.

  • Tertiary qualifications in business and/or aviation management desirable, but not essential.
