Helicopter Pilot Required-New Zealand
Helicopters Otago Ltd is part of HEMSNZ who are contracted by the National Ambulance Sector Office (NASO) to operate 4 fully dedicated rescue helicopters, for the greater Otago/Southland Region, 24/7, 365 days a year.
We have two bases, our main base is located in Dunedin at Taieri Airfield, with a second base located at the Queenstown International Airport.
Helicopters Otago Ltd is supported by both the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust (ORHT) and Lakes District Air Ambulance Trust (LDART).

We are seeking an experienced BK117/H145 qualified EMS Pilot.
We operate VFR/NVG/SPIFR engaged in day and night operations covering all aspects of Air Ambulance/SAR/Off Shore operations.
This is a permanent position for the right person with commitment and passion for EMS helicopter operations.
This position is for our Taieri base at Mosgiel, Dunedin. You will be required to reside in the Mosgiel area.
Minimum qualifications:
• CAA NZ Commercial Pilots License (Helicopter)
• Instrument Rating
• 3000 hrs Rotary wing
• 2000hrs PIC
• 500hrs Multi Engine Turbine
• 50 hrs NVIS
Desirable qualifications:
• ATPL (H)
• H145 experience
• Winch experience
• EMS experience
• Night operations
Required Skills
• EXCELLENT interpersonal skills
• MUST HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
• MUST be able to work as part of a larger team
• MUST demonstrate a competent level of experience of helicopter flight operations within the emergency services or relevant flight operations
• MUST have the ability to change when required
• MUST have a good understanding of current the NZCAA legislation
• Will need to be IT literate
Main Responsibilities
• Carry out duties as a HEMS pilot in accordance with CAA requirements and Helicopters Otago Ltd.’s exposition.
• Be part of a pilot roster scheme and have flexibility when required.
• Undertake aviation related duties on behalf of Helicopters Otago Ltd.
• Help maintain spotless clean hanger and helicopters.
• Regular liaison with colleagues, HEMS crew, engineering and appropriate third party as required
• Assist with operational and training requirements.
• Maintain and demonstrate an active interest in the overall activities of Heliotago and mission values in all communications with the public.
• Be prepared to attend occasional promotional or fundraising events either as part of a team or as an individual to support and promote the Otago Rescue Helicopter service.
