Located in North Queensland approximately 135 kilometers south of Charters Towers, lies my client’s working cattle station where a position now exists for a Helicopter Mustering Pilot to commence work. Encompassing an almost 1 million acres, the cattle station incorporates a breeding, backgrounding and finishing operation and is owned by a family entity catering for some 45,000 head. A new R22 has recently been purchased and added to the fleet of an existing R22 & R44 helicopters on the station.
Running a quality herd over an aggregating number of stations, our client has implemented a consistent low stress stock handling approach with cattle mustering taking place utilising a combination of helicopters, two-wheel motorbikes and utes and stock processing in general. All employees are expected to adopt a good attitude toward using low stress stock handling methods and keeping the general animal welfare of the herd first and foremost.
Requirements & Responsibilities:
To report to the Station Manager.
To hold a current CASA Commercial Helicopter License.
To hold a current mustering endorsement in an R22 (R44 favorable but not essential).
To carry out aerial stock mustering duties.
Have at least 300 - 400 previous mustering hours in an R22 or R44.
To possess extensive on-ground cattle experience and the ability and willingness to work as part of a station crew when not flying.
To always demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to safety protocols and measures.
To be physically fit and able to comply with associated rules and regulations required to carry out a mustering pilot’s position.
To possess sound mechanical skills.
To demonstrate a personable approach and ability to work well as part of a larger station team.
To have a current driver’s licence.
Accommodation according to requirements for a single or couple can be supplied. Applicants should be prepared to give an indication of their remuneration expectations upon interview.
