The Opportunity


We are now recruiting for the position of a Helicopter Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) to join with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA). This position will support Oakey based helicopter operations as an MTP.


Applicants will be required to conduct initial type training at Nowra for approximately 3 months before relocating on a permanent basis to Oakey.


To be considered for the role you will:


  • Conduct ground and test flight schedules on the 135 based platform.

  • Liaise with BDA maintenance and engineering teams for coordination of aircraft support efforts.

  • Act as the lead BDA aircrew member at Oakey on behalf of the Training Manager and Senior Instructor (TMSI) located at the Nowra based Helicopter Aircrew Training System.

  • Liaise and coordinate with the Nowra based HATS Chief Pilot (CP) in all activities supporting aircraft serviceability efforts.

  • Update Aircraft records.

  • Maintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements in accordance with Army Aviation (and School of Army Aviation) Standing Instructions.

  • Support Deep Maintenance and test flight schedules of the 135 platform between servicing locations.

  • Support recovery operations on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia.

  • Coordinate with the BDA Aircrew Capability Manager for matters relating to work patterns and requirements.

  • Participate in external evaluations (including safety related investigations).

  • Assist the HATS Program Manager, TMSI and CP as required for BDA related activities

  • Comply with the WHS-related JHS OIP to ensure a safe workplace

  • Be aware of, and demonstrate a commitment to, the principles of equal opportunity in the workplace

Experience/Qualifications


Essential Criteria:


  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical and ability to maintain the requirements of this medical certificate

  • CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter)

  • Hold, or have held, a recognised Maintenance Test Pilot endorsement within the ADF Flight Management System

  • Must have clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have current Competency Standard HLTAID003 - Provide first aid

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team

  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with co-workers, maintaining productive working relationships to meet team, business unit and organisational goals

  • Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures

  • Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office skills

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a baseline Defence security clearance

Desirable Criteria:

 

  • Military flying instructional experience (Category C QFI or higher)

  • CASA Command Instrument Rating (Helicopter), or military equivalent

  • CASA Night Visual Flight Rules Rating, or military equivalent

  • CASA Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) rating, or military equivalent

  • Experience working within Australian Army Aviation

  • Experience working as a contractor in support of Defence efforts

  • Experience in a safety management role

  • Experience working in a contractor environment (directly with customer)

  • Previous EC135 type experience

Physical Requirements


Boeing Defence Australia specific site positions will have physical requirements which are applicable.  Physical requirements are outlined by the recruitment manager in consultation with the Environment Health & Safety Department.  A formal assessment of the physical requirements will need to be completed through the Environment Health & Safety Department for specific roles which would then reflect into the position description.
