Auriga Aviation has established itself as an industry leader in the provision of specialist Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services in Australia.  Auriga Aviation operates a modern fleet of Airbus helicopters in the provision of services to the maritime industry and a diverse customer base across multiple locations throughout Australia.  The company continues to expand and embark on a range of exciting project initiatives.


Your new role


The successful HOFO requires a solid understanding of flight operations technical, regulatory, and administrative matters, along with a strong focus on engaging our people, driving our culture and being a role model to the team. 


As the Head of Flight Operations, you will monitor and maintain safety and regulatory compliance whilst ensuring high operational integrity, P&L responsibility, and client service delivery. 


The safe, professional and efficient operations of our fleet of Airbus H125, H135, and H145 aircraft is a key focus.  You will be required to participate in or lead projects, as well as supporting the business with documentation, systems of work, technology, and innovation.  You will also be required to liaise with our clients, regulatory bodies, suppliers and industry from time to time.


The HOFO role is predominantly a non-flying role, however you must have the required managerial and operational experience, qualifications, and knowledge to hold this key personnel role for our air operator’s certificate under CASR Parts 119 and 138.


The HOFO is a key member of the Auriga Aviation leadership team and will actively support and promote company initiatives, objectives, and values; working consistently to develop and maintain a highly motivated and engaged workforce.


What we are looking for


  • A strong desire to lead, engage and motivate people to bring out their best.

  • Attention to detail, effective planning and organisational skills.

  • Superior knowledge of relevant aviation rules and procedures.

  • Ability to regularly travel and work at any Auriga bases within Australia, along with international travel if required.

  • Desirable: Tertiary education in business, aviation, or other relevant disciplines.

  • A great listener with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • An unwavering commitment to safety, professionalism and integrity.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement whilst developing collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Meet the minimum regulatory requirements for Head of Flight Operations key personnel.

  • Previous experience in a management or a leadership role, ideally within flight operations; experience in HMPT or similar specialist operations.

  • Australian resident and able to hold and maintain an ASIC and MSIC.
