Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) is a first-class recognised training organisation based in Adelaide, South Australia and offers both fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight training. The helicopter department is currently a small team of professional Instructors and this role will lead that team. The Flight Training Manager/Chief Flying Instructor (Helicopter) will ensure the operations of the helicopter department are carried out in accordance with regulatory and quality requirements.   • Helicopter flight instructor rating with Grade 1 training endorsement

  • Gas turbine endorsed

  • Low level rating

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Part 61 and relevant CASA regulations

  • Chief Flying Instructor experience

  • Minimum total PIC helicopter – 2500 hrs

  • Previous aviation management experience

Role Responsibilities

  • Give practical flight instruction;

  • Supervise the duties of other subordinate flying instructors employed by the school in accordance with CAO 40.3.7 for helicopter operations;

  • Ensure that the college’s operations are conducted in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Regulations and Civil Aviation Orders;

  • Ensure that the helicopter flying and ground training conducted are at a standard satisfactory to CASA;

  • Carry out a standardisation and proficiency flight checks with helicopter flying instructors;

  • Provide the College Management with technical and administrative support regarding helicopter training and helicopter operations;

  • Conduct technical and operational tasks relating to helicopters;

  • Ensuring that all helicopter instructors meet CASA requirements with regards to their ratings and medical validity.
