Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) is a first-class recognised training organisation based in Adelaide, South Australia and offers both fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight training. The helicopter department is currently a small team of professional Instructors and this role will lead that team. The Flight Training Manager/Chief Flying Instructor (Helicopter) will ensure the operations of the helicopter department are carried out in accordance with regulatory and quality requirements. The chosen candidate will carry out flight training duties and manage student/instructor allocation and timely completion of courses.

Helicopter flight instructor rating with Grade 1 training endorsement
Gas turbine endorsed
Low level rating
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Part 61 and relevant CASA regulations

Minimum total PIC helicopter – 2500 hrs

Role Responsibilities
Give practical flight instruction;
Supervise the duties of other subordinate flying instructors employed by the school in accordance with CAO 40.3.7 for helicopter operations;
Ensure that the college’s operations are conducted in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Regulations and Civil Aviation Orders;
Ensure that the helicopter flying and ground training conducted are at a standard satisfactory to CASA;
Carry out a standardisation and proficiency flight checks with helicopter flying instructors;
Provide the College Management with technical and administrative support regarding helicopter training and helicopter operations;
Conduct technical and operational tasks relating to helicopters;
Ensuring that all helicopter instructors meet CASA requirements with regards to their ratings and medical validity.
