Chief Pilot and Head of Flight Operations (HOFO)
Aviator Group is seeking an experienced manager and suitably qualified aviation professional to join our senior management team in the role of Chief Pilot (CP) and Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) in Brisbane/SE Queensland.

Aviator Group operates a modern fleet of Airbus H135, Leonardo A109, and Bell 429 aircraft, and undertakes a variety of speciality aviation services to a diverse customer base. Aviator operates from multiple bases at Gladstone, Mackay, Hay Point, Port Hedland, and Newcastle. Planned growth includes additional bases, scope of operations and mission roles, and aircraft including the H145. ROLE DESCRIPTION
The CP HOFO is responsible to the Accountable Manager for ensuring the safe, professional, and efficient operations of the fleet of EC135, A109, B429 and AS350 aircraft fleet.
As the nominated Flight Operations regulatory post-holder, the CP HOFO will be responsible for the development and maintenance of strategies and policies to achieve high standards of Flight Safety, Flight Crew Training, Technical Support, Fleet Operations, Flight Operations Quality and Regulatory Compliance. As a valued member of the senior leadership team, the CP HOFO will actively participate in projects and business strategy, as the group continues to expand and develop an exceptional specialty aviation services business.
The CP HOFO is responsible for the timely and relevant dissemination of information to company Pilots concerning safety, security, and operational matters, including monitoring safety occurrences and the development of recommendations arising from.
The CP HOFO is integral to the selection of suitable and properly qualified personnel to be recruited for Flight Crew and other specialised duties within the department. Effective people management skills of Flight Crew are essential to promote corporate values and objectives, and for development of a well-briefed and highly motivated workforce.
Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), GM Aviation, and the Head of Operations (HOO)/ Head of Training and Checking (HoTC), the CP HOFO will require the necessary acumen to establish a departmental strategy and budget to meet current and planned future growth, ensuring sufficient qualified flight crew to fly the planned schedule in the most effective and cost-efficient manner. This will include the development, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate systems within the department to ensure the efficient use of the company resources allocated to Flight Operations and adequate operations planning.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this important role, you will demonstrate an extensive flight operation, regulatory and training knowledge, and a skill set required to lead the operations team effectively and safely requiring the following key qualifications and experience.
Significant flight operations management experience commensurate with the role.
Air Transport Pilot Licence Helicopter (ATPL-H).
Multi-Engine Command experience and hold an IR on a MEH.
Current Australian Class 1 Aviation Medical.
Ability to obtain and maintain CASA approval as Chief Pilot.
Australian resident, and able to hold and maintain an ASIC and MSIC.
Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis, and internationally as required.
Strong communication skills, able to communicate in a professional & engaging manner.
Superior knowledge of aviation regulations and procedures.
Hold or can hold relevant CASA Flight Instructor (FIR) and Flight Examiner (FER) qualifications with IR endorsement for both ratings.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE ATTRIBUTES
Tertiary and/or relevant aviation management qualifications.
EC135, H145, BH429 or A109 experience.
Marine Pilot Transfer (MPT) or Offshore experience.
