Chief Pilot / Head of Operations
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the utilisation and maintenance of aircraft to ensure a safe and efficient operation and the day-to-day management of currency and competence of pilot personnel.
Key accountabilities
Monitor, maintain, and report to the CEO on compliance within the provisions of civil aviation legislation and company aerial activities.
Identify and continuously monitor improvement opportunities within aerial and general operations and make subsequent recommendations to the CEO.
Form an integral part of decision making processes and provide advice to the CEO on the allocation of equipment, aircraft and appropriately qualified personnel.
Ensure training and qualifications are clearly supported with documentation relating to course syllabus, standards required to be met, record forms and procedures to be followed when minimum standard is not achieved.
Control, monitoring and reporting of expenditure against budget.
Control, monitoring and reporting of actual labour hours and costs against salaries & wages budget.
Submit end of month financial reporting and analysis, and make recommendation in relation to modifying existing strategies to maximise future profitability.
Perform duties of HAAMC and oversee helicopter maintenance requests.
Plan and document aircraft utilisation and maintenance.
Set standards for pilot selection, evaluation and performance.
Essential requirements - candidates must:
hold a current driver’s licence with no traffic offences recorded on their driving history within the last six (6) months.
Current Australian Commercial Pilot licence (CPL) (Rotary Wing).
The following flying experience
2000+ hours pilot-in-command Rotary Wing aircraft
1500+ hours on turbine-powered Rotary Wing aircraft
7+ years commercial rotary aviation experience
Ability to apply business management skills.
Experience in leading a team of people and maximising performance.
Ability to manage budgets.
Demonstrated capacity to manage non-compliance issues.
Proven high level communication, planning and organising skills.
