Bristow Helicopters Australia is restructuring our Operations Department to align with the current operational footprint in Australia. As such we are is seeking applicants for the role of Head of Flying Operations/Chief Pilot to be based in Melbourne, Victoria to align with the base located in Tooradin.
The Head of Flight Operations / Chief Pilot and Head of Training and Checking is an accountable manager within the Air Operators Certificate for the company within Asia Pacific Region as per Civil Aviation Act 1988 Statutory Responsibilities.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Assisting with the strategic plan for the Operations Department and Company as a whole;
Liaising with CASA on operational requirements obtaining permits, approvals, validations and clearances as required;
Ensuring compliance with the Air Operators Certificate, Civil Aviation Orders, Regulations and Company Operations Manual;
Ensuring compliance with Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) and maintaining appropriate records in respect of duty times;
Ensuring availability of aircraft to task and management of crew rosters;
Administering the Helicopter Landing Sites system including imposition of operational restrictions for non-conformances with CAAP 92-4 and CAP 437;
Maintaining and distributing Base Instructions, Emergency Response Manual, and the Base Operating Procedures; Producing & distributing DG Manual & Australian Instrument Flying Manual, make changes to Operations Manual and DG Manual;
Reviewing and responding to the Air Safety and Ground Safety Reporting system;
Ensuring compliance with BHA Transport Security Plan; and
Maintaining control and responsibility of checking and training of pilots and ensuring discipline of aircrew with respect to any breach of regulations or non-compliance with Operations Manual.
In addition to a strong background on the above broad ranging duties, we are looking for someone who can display:
Previous operational aviation management experience;
Excellent pro-active communication and problem solving skills;
Demonstrated leadership ability;
ICAO ATPL with ratings on AW139 or S92 aircraft;
3000 hours on helicopters;
Significant multi-engine and multi-crew command experience; and
Instructor rating or prior check and training experience.
