Company: Valhalla Helicopters Pty Ltd. Position: Commercial Helicopter Pilot Annual Salary Range: $54,000 - $80,000 AUD (experience dependent) Hangar Location: Flinders, NSW Location of Work: Rural / Regional Australia
Valhalla Helicopters currently has multiple positions available to be filled. Please note that only Australian Permanent Residents and Citizens will be considered for these positions.
Requirements consist of, but are not limited to the following:
Hold either a Canadian Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter) or Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (Helicopter) enabling them certification to be able to fly Canadian registered aircraft. This license must be valid and endorsed for the type of helicopter the pilot is flying.
Must be valid on types BH12 and BH04
Hold specialty tank operations, aerial firefighting experience, fire operations, long-line operations, slinging operations and vertical reference
Have a valid Canadian Medical Certificate Cat 1
Hold a valid radiotelephone operator’s restricted certificate (aeronautical)
Be trained in accordance with Section 6 of Valhalla Helicopters’ Operations Manual and the training sections of its annexes covering special operations
Hold a Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) at least once in any twelve (12) month period. The PPC is valid to the first day of the thirteenth month after the date of the PPC
Have an approved Mountain course with more than 500 hours mountain flying
Possess 2000 hours total time and more than 100 hour PIC on each 205 and 212
Duties and Responsibilities
Daily checks of aircraft parts and equipment prior to flight
Check the weather forecast
In depth knowledge of Canadian and Australian regulations relative to pilot privileges, restrictions and obligations
Possess good knowledge of directions and air routes
Complete flight plans including weather briefing and route planning
Plan and adopt the safest route
Monitor the technical processes, instrument panel, fuel consumption and weather condition during the course of flying
Helicopter passenger safety briefing and procedures
Work in coordination with the ground staff and co-pilot
Keep a continuous contact with the ground staff and update on the current helicopter flying conditions like altitude, route and speed
Follow proper radio procedures
Adhere to all Valhalla Helicopters safety work practices and procedures
Vast knowledge of all operational gear
Essential Skills and Abilities
Possess in-depth knowledge of helicopter operations and functions
Knowledge of navigation equipment and control
Good understanding of the safety practices and procedures and other aviation tools
Ability to make quick and effective decisions
Ability to work without supervision
Ability to work under stressful and emergency situation
Excellent eye and hand coordination
Possess a good physical health and eye-vision
A keen eye to details and well organised
Patient and positive attitude
Strong communication skills to communicate with co-pilot, ground staff, passengers, etc.
