Helicopters Otago is seeking expressions of interest for EMS/SAR pilots at our Taieri and Queenstown Bases.
About the role
As an EMS/SAR Pilot, you will conduct air ambulance and rescue missions across mountainous, coastal, and remote terrain, operating in some of New Zealand's most dynamic and challenging environments. You will work in a 4 on 4 off roster environment, working closely with management, paramedics and other crew while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Conduct air ambulance and rescue missions as pilot-in-command
Work closely with management, paramedics and other crew
Maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and decision-making
Participate in training, development, and other tasks as necessary
Carry out pilot-maintenance on helicopters and equipment
Maintain facilities and gear to the highest standards
Live within a reasonable distance from the base to meet requirements for night mission dispatch times
About you
Minimum Requirements
CPL(H) or ATPL (H) with current Class 1 Medical
Minimum 2,000 hours total helicopter time
Multi-engine experience
Unrestricted night rating
Excellent CRM and communication skills
Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand
Highly Regarded
NVG rating and experience
Instrument Rating (Helicopter) – SPIFR
Mountain flying experience
EMS and SAR experience including hoist operations
BK117 / EC145 / H145 ratings & experience
