EMS Pilot – Helicopters Otago
Taieri Base
Helicopters Otago is seeking an experienced and motivated EMS Pilot to join our Taieri-based air ambulance crew.
Operating in some of New Zealand’s most dynamic and challenging environments, our service provides critical aeromedical response across the lower South Island. We are looking for a professional pilot who thrives in a high-performance team environment and is committed to operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
As an EMS Pilot, you will:
Conduct air ambulance and rescue missions across mountainous, coastal, and remote terrain
Operate in a 4 on 4 off roster environment
Work closely with management, paramedics and other crew
Maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and decision-making
Participate in training, development, and other tasks as necessary
Carry out pilot-maintenance on helicopters and equipment
Maintain our facilities and gear to the highest standards
You will be required to live within a reasonable distance from the base in order to meet requirements for night mission dispatch times.
Minimum Requirements
CPL(H) or ATPL (H) with current Class 1 Medical
Minimum 3,000 hours total helicopter time
Minimum 2,000 hours PIC helicopter
Multi-engine experience
Unrestricted night & NVG ratings
Instrument Rating (Helicopter) – SPIFR
Mountain flying experience
Excellent CRM and communication skills
Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand
Highly Regarded
EMS and SAR experience
BK117 / EC145 / H145 ratings & experience
Previous single-pilot IFR operations
